Aluminum trekking poles are sturdier and heavier. 7075 (or other 7 series) aluminum alloys are the better type and are more durable than carbon fiber. Each pair of aluminum rods usually weighs 18 to 22 ounces (about 0.5 to 0.6 kilograms).

Advantages: Since it is made of metal, it can still be used even if it is deformed. (Once deformed, though, aluminum rods are prone to breakage.) So, if the rod is deformed, you can still use it. You can also re-straighten it before continuing to use it. Compared to carbon, aluminum is cheaper, so the price is not too expensive.
